In 2021, mid-pandemic, sewing and fashion design classes laid the groundwork for what became La Maison Komandō (LMK).

La Maison Komandō (LMK) is a Black and queer-owned Canadian brand. Since the launch of our first collection in
2023 sold out in just a few weeks LMK has been featured in the award-winning international magazine LSTW, cited in
major outlets including the National Post, and won the Futurpreneur/RBC Emerging Black Entrepreneur Award. Founder and creative director Murielle Bien-Aimé also took part in the latest CCLGBTQ: Fierté Entrepreneur.e.s campaign. From Pride pop-ups in Montréal and Toronto to
obtaning our first plus-size pont of sale space in Montréal, LMK proves one thing: we are a rising force in fashion.

LMK redefines what traditional women’s underwear look and feel like by creating stylish boxer-cut, sustainable, size-inclusive underwear and performance wear tailored to women’s bodies and needs. An undie so comfortable, it feels like you have nothing on.

Back then, the brand was called Girls Like Us: GLU. We even got the domain for 1$.

2022

A few months in, someone offered $50 for a domain we’d grabbed for a dollar.
We countered at $999 for the drama & just to test the universe. They said yes.

We flipped that surprise win into MIND YOUR VISION first tees, 20K+ views and the start of La Maison Komandō.

LMK and its founder won Recipient of the Emerging Black Entrepreneur 18-39 throughout Canada, powered by Futurpreneurs and RBC.

We treated the first drop like a market test and cleared it fast at summer pop-ups in Montréal and Toronto.

LMK is out to claim its place on the underwear market. MALA MTL became LMK’s first point of sale in Montréal, known for its plus-size focus.
